Another Reason to Quit Smoking on World No Tobacco Day
Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health and Nicorette® believe that for people to thrive, we need a healthy planet. That’s why on World No Tobacco Day we are supporting the World Health Organization (WHO) in raising awareness of this year’s theme of ‘Tobacco: a threat to our environment,’ giving smokers one more reason to quit smoking.
Smoking remains a global health emergency. Not only is it the leading cause of preventable deaths worldwide, but it also poses a significant threat to our climate. As the world’s leading nicotine replacement therapy brand, Nicorette’s mission is to improve the health of both people and the planet by supporting people on their journey to quit smoking while also upholding our sustainability commitments.
To that end, our Helsingborg factory, where Nicorette® was first developed, is now 100% carbon neutral, having reduced emissions from 5,012 tons per year to zero - the equivalent of taking 1,000 cars off the road. We have achieved this through initiatives such as reducing our energy and natural gas consumption and providing sustainable transport. Additionally, we are developing more sustainable products and packaging, with all Nicorette® consumer cartons now sourced from sustainably managed forests.
Quitting smoking is one of the hardest things a person can do: it’s a journey. It is also one of the most rewarding. Not unlike the one we face as a brand and a company in becoming more sustainable through our Healthy Lives Mission.
Taking the step to quit smoking this World No Tobacco Day will not only improve your own health, but also, the health of those around you and the world we live in.
