Richard has been with Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health since the acquisition of Vogue in 2016. He was managing the Vogue business for two years prior to joining J&J Consumer Health, growing the business in Europe to what it is today.

First, the people I work with in Consumer Health are brilliant. That makes all the difference for me, but personally what drives me is understanding the psychology of consumers and what drives them to purchase our products. In my case, it is OGX® and Maui Moisture®, but it could be Johnson’s Baby®, Neutrogena®, etc. I enjoy the challenge that comes with building relationships to understand our customers and consumers - ensuring we can give them a fantastic product experience at the right price in the right store or online at the right time.

From my experience, whether you work for one of the largest companies in the world or one of the smallest, it is about bringing your authentic self to work every day. We are all able to be at our best when we do this and I believe Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health allows people to genuinely do that.

The best advice I've ever received is that when you are faced with a tough decision in your career, don’t be afraid to take the time to think about it - use your network, ask peers, get opinions. It is all about balancing that with your gut feel, your instincts. So far, this advice has helped me navigate some big changes and I have no regrets.

I would encourage colleagues and young professionals to not be afraid to fail and keep pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. It can create “good stress” and drives your own personal development. If I look back on my career there have definitely been some scary times. Consumer Health is a dynamic place to be and I would encourage people to challenge themselves more and more. There are so many opportunities at Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health if you push yourself.
